Criminal Defense Investigations

What is a Criminal Defense Investigator? Well, a criminal defense investigator (CDI) is a persons whom mainly works for a defense attorney, as law enforcement works for the prosecution. We as CDI's conduct our own investigation, and look for discrepancies, in the investigation that law enforcement may have overlooked, or evidence that may have been overlooked, or maybe the prosecution may want left out, that is could damage their case against the defendant. A CDI, has several years experience in working in this field from schooling, or on the job experience. This is a very critical job, and it required long hours, and great skills in report writing, reading comprehension, knowing how to handle evidence, and working crime scenes to make sure that you don't contaminate any or all evidence. This is just the tip of the iceberg, working in this field. You have to be extremely on your toes in this job, because someones life is relying on you to help them, and one little mistake can either release a guilty person or hang an innocent one. One thing a CDI normally will work on is what is called "reasonable doubt", this is what most defense attorneys really rely on in their cases, and working on finding that reasonable doubt in prosecutions case can change the whole outcome on a long, long trial.
